Best of Synergy Winner

Following hot on the heels of our recent Citrix Awards we are pleased to say that UShareSoft was rewarded as one on the top european 25 cloud start-ups during the 2012 European Tech Tour in Lausanne, Switzerland. Taking place during the Cloud and Big Data Summit, the Tech Tour contest received more than 250 submissions, and was a unique opportunity for UShareSoft to meet with Europe's top venture capitalists.

Participants were selected based on the value proposition and competitive positioning of their products. UShareSoft's selection is thus a sign of high recognition of UForge as one of the tech leaders in the marke in the fields of cloud image template management and enterprise IT app stores.

AWS Marketplace: The Missing Link?

A couple of months ago, AWS launched a new Marketplace where customers can find cloud software and launch it directly on AWS. The Marketplace now includes a few hundred AMIs (Amazon Machine Images) ranging from base OS images, to LAMP stacks up to fully-fledged business application stacks.

Here at UShareSoft, we're pretty excited by the AWS Marketplace. That does sound like an awful canned PR quote. But really: we are. Our mission has always been to simplify software delivery and the new AWS Marketplace is designed to do exactly that. We believe that the number of application marketplaces will expand massively in the future, reaching hundreds or thousands of stores catering to different verticals, individual country requirements, various ISV ecosystems and much more.

UForge Gets Bigger and Better with SUSE Support

The much awaited UForge 3.2.6 version has finally arrived. The focus of this release was to provide a UForge CLI to allow administrators to manage their UForge instances better, but more importantly to continue to be the most operating system agnostic platform for generating server templates on the market. This release now boasts support for the following operating systems:

  • openSUSE 11.4 and 12.1
  • Scientific Linux 5.7 and 6.2
  • Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS)
  • Fedora 16


Other improvements include support for Eucalyptus 3.0, OpenStack ESSEX and the new Nimbula 2.0 version. You can read the full release notes here.
